Janae Edmondson, a Tennessee adolescent critically injured in February after being hit by a car in downtown St. Louis, has filed a lawsuit against the city.

The event heightened criticism of former St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner’s office, culminating in Gardner’s resignation in May.

On Edmondson’s behalf, Kevin Carnie Jr. of the Simon legal firm and Robert Blitz of the Blitz, Bardgett & Deutsch law company filed the case in St. Louis Circuit Court on Tuesday.

James and Francine Edmondson, Janae’s parents, revealed their terrible experience to Missouri 22nd Judicial Circuit Judge Rochelle Woodiest last week.

Daniel Riley, 21, is accused of hitting Janae with his car, and Woodiest presided over the bond hearing that would determine his immediate fate.
